About Gender and Development
Gender and Development (GAD) is a development perspective and process that is participatory, empowering, equitable, sustainable, free from violence, respectful of human rights, supportive of self-determination and actualization of human potentials.
It is an approach which reflects a change in outlook, where the disparities of women and men in all aspects/sectors of development are recognized. It seeks to achieve gender equality and emphasizes the role of women as active agents of development and not just passive recipients of development assistance.
